TOFINO & WHISTLER — Following the recent announcement by the Passenger Transportation Board, Whistle has proudly become the inaugural ride-hailing company in BC to receive an operating license.

With its roots in Tofino BC, Whistle is set to debut in Tofino initially, with subsequent plans for a rollout in Whistler, as outlined in the company's application. The service will gradually extend operations throughout the year to include the nearby communities of Ucluelet, Pemberton, and Squamish.

Founder of Whistle, Dylan Green, elucidates, "Having previously helmed an inter-city bus enterprise in Tofino for 15 years, I am deeply familiar with the transportation challenges faced by resort towns during peak visitor seasons such as holidays and weekends. I view ride-hailing as a fresh transport alternative that can present tangible solutions for Tofino, Whistler, and their environs."

In resort locales, ride-hailing represents not only an efficient transit option for tourists and guests but also a beneficial resource for local residents who often must commute beyond their communities for work, courtesy of shared rides. The advent of ride-hailing, with its capacity to enlist numerous casual drivers utilizing their private vehicles, promises to ensure a sufficient vehicle presence during peak demand periods for small transport operators.
